Cambodian PM's Cup gets 36 clubs participating

It is expected that 36 football clubs will participate in Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen Cup Football tournament during 13-24 January at the Phnom Phen Olympic Stadium. The winner will receive US$10,000, the runner-up US$5,000 and third, US$2,500. "So far 32 clubs have submitted their application forms, while the others from Pailin City, Battambang, Rattanakiri and Modulkiri provinces haven't finished the process yet," Sao Sokha, President of the Cambodian Football Federation told Xinhua.

The CFF Executive Board has, however, ruled that foreign players cannot play for their clubs in the competition. "The football clubs from provinces and cities want to know the ability and techniques of local football players," Yean Chheng, CFF Secretary General told Xinhua. Khemera Football Club has three Nigerian and one Congolese players, Phnom Penh Empire Club has four Nigerians and one Ghanian players, and the NAGA Corp Club, allegedly spent "much money" hiring and training two Camerounian footballers.
