Urawa Reds take Japan's League and Cup double

J-League champion, Urawa Reds completed the Japanese double on New Year’s Day by defeating Gamba Osaka 1-0 in the final of the Emperor’s Cup on Monday. The only goal of the match proved to be last-gasp and came from Yuichiro Nagai three minutes before the final whistle, helping Urawa retain the Cup they had won last year.

"It's impossible to put into words how elated I am," said outgoing coach Guido Buchwald, who is to return to Germany after three seasons as Urawa coach, as quoted by AFCMedia. "It is never easy to win a double. We had our fair share of luck today but I want to pay tribute to the players. It's a great way to end three wonderful years."
