Australia may consider International preseason cup

Australian A-League club Melbourne Victory chairman Geoff Lord has asked Football Federation Australia to revamp its pre-season competition to include guest teams from Asia and the USA. He said his club was looking at a round-robin style pre-season tournament with foreign rivals and the FFA was showing interest in the concept. "It could be with Asian teams. It would be terrific if we could have the west coast of the US involved in some form of competition. The two things may marry. They are embryonic at this stage," he told Michael Lynch of The Age. Melbourne Victory, the A-League 2007 Premier, and the runner-up in the A-League Champions Cup Grand Final will represent Australia in the 2008 AFC Champions League.
